Obituary of Joyce Armafay Vaughn

Joyce A. (Pointer) Vaughn, 78, of Niles, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 7, 2018.

Joyce was born on October 8, 1939, in Parma, Missouri to the late Oral and Hazel Pointer.  In 1958 she married James E. Vaughn Sr. Together they owned and operated The Plaza and The Plaza II restaurants until retiring in 2010. Joyce enjoyed a good cup of coffee and sharing stories with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Vaughn; a son, James Vaughn Jr.; and a sister, Genetta Stark.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Thomas (Ellen) Vaughn, Danny (Kathy) Vaughn and Mike (Robin Oswald) Vaughn; daughter, Shelly Boersma; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glen (Carol) Pointer; sisters, Geneva Pears, Margaline Pointer and Pam Mills; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial dinner will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at The Bell Building, 305 N. Third Street, Niles, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in her memory can be made to a Fibromyalgia Research Foundation of your choosing.
