Obituary of Dorothy Jean Villwock
Dorothy J. Villwock, 89, of Berrien Springs, passed away peacefully at the home of her grandson in Berrien Springs on Saturday, June 23, 2018.
Dorothy was born on January 3, 1929 to the late Charles and Bernadine (Foster) Hankins.
She graduated from Berrien Springs High School, Class of 1946, and furthered her education at South Bend College of Commerce in 1948. On February 3, 1951 Dorothy married the love of her life, Albert C. Villwock, at a ceremony in Berrien Springs. She worked for Tyler Refrigeration until the birth of her son, Don, in 1956. Dorothy and Albert owned and operated Villwock’s Farm for over sixty years. Dorothy was a member of Calvary Road Community Church in Niles. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, bowling, shuffle-board, and shopping, but what brought her the most joy was the time she spent with her family and friends.
Dorothy enjoyed a long partnership with her son in running Villwock’s Farm Market. Her great love for her community shone through her interactions with her customers. She was always willing to lend a sympathetic ear to those who hurt or to give produce to those who needed it. Her kind heart and generous spirit attracted people from far and wide, and she will be greatly missed by her community.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert C. Villwock and a brother, Lloyd Kibler.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Don (Dorene) Villwock of Berrien Springs; three grandchildren, Michael (Jody) Villwock of Berrien Springs, Megan Villwock (Eric Baker) of Portland, Oregon and Melanie (Jonathan) Schlegel of Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Noah, Micah, William, and Lydia, as well as a host of other family and friends.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Brown Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at First Baptist Church with a meal served at 4 p.m.
