Obituary of Richard L. Minisee
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard L. Minisee, 86, of Niles, passed away at McLaren Hospital in Lansing on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
Richard was born on April 27, 1931, to the late James and Mildred Minisee in Eau Claire, Michigan. Richard was a Korean War veteran. He was proud that he was always stateside and drove the baseball players around. He even drove for Willie Mays. Richard worked for many years at the grain bins, driving truck, farming and pulling mobile homes. On August 14, 1971, Richard wed Delores Mikel at a ceremony in Cassopolis. Richard was also a hunter, he enjoyed camping and the outdoors and finding and harvesting edible mushrooms.
He was a giver to many people; from his maple syrup to produce from his garden, to peanuts, and candy. He usually gave you something when you came by. Many came by for cookouts and gatherings and seemed to enjoy their time with him.
He had a frank sense of humor, not easily forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred; children, Larry Jones, Carmen Curtis-Minisee, and Valerie Minisee; and brother, Darwin Minisee.
Richard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delores Minisee; children, Robin Minisee of Las Vegas, Nevada, Paris Minisee of Arizona, Maelyn Myers of Arizona, and Charles Wagner II of Michigan; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma Darby of Georgia; and many extended family members and close friends.
A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens at 10:00 a.m. with military honors.
