Thora Kay McMichael, 56, of Niles, passed away unexpectedly but of natural causes at her home on Saturday,

June 2, 2018.

Thora was born on March 25, 1962, to the late Rodney and Julie McKague in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from high school, Thora went on to earn her Cosmetology License and also her Associate’s Degree in applied Science from KVCC.

On May 26, 1995, she wed James McMichael at a ceremony in Cassopolis. Together they raised three daughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, James McMichael; daughters, Lucinda (Thomas) Opfer of Niles, Brandie (Jared) Hotrum of Dowagiac, and Amy Moore of South Bend; eight grandchildren with one more on the way; siblings, John (Lynne) McKague, James (Becky) McKague, Robert McKague and Rodney McKague; and many extended family members and close friends.

In keeping with Thora’s wishes she has been cremated and her family will be remembering her privately.
