Obituary of Federico Vargas Avalos
Federico “Fred” Avalos, 87 of Niles, passed away peacefully at his home with his “Sweet Angel Face” Michelle Ryan and his dog “Oreo” by his side, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Fred was born on August 29, 1930, to the late Federico and Ophelia Avalos in San Antonio, Texas. After high school, he moved to California to attend Berkley University. While attending college, he met Bill Gee. They were life partners and shared 47 wonderful years together until his passing on May 7, 1999. While working as a Respiratory Therapist, he met Richard Farrell. After retirement, they moved to Niles, Michigan. They were best friends and partners and shared 17 blessed years together until Rich’s passing on May 13, 2017. Fred was a talented, kind, caring, and compassionate man with a wonderful sense of humor. He had an eye for style. He designed and sold high-end formal gowns, was a gifted artist, and sold many of his paintings. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, reading, and making others smile.
Fred is survived by his precious dog, “Oreo”; his loving cousin, Irma Arguelles, and many other family members in Mexico City, Mexico; his “Sweet Angel”, Michelle Ryan of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Richard's family members; and close friends, Jesse Damron of Los Angeles, California, Robyn Punch of Springdale, Arkansas, and Pastor Ed Hansen, of the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Hollywood, California.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes, he has been cremated and the family will be remembering him privately.
