Obituary of Helen May Berry

Helen M. Berry, 94, of Dowagiac, formerly of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.


Helen was born on November 12, 1923, to Louis and Ilah M. (Curtis) Owen in Niles, Michigan.

 

Helen was married to the former Victor Dean Kennedy for 22 years, together they raised five children. She married the former Richard Berry and they celebrated 5 years of marriage. Helen was known as a hard worker and being very independent, she worked up into her seventies. In her free time, she enjoyed dancing and playing bingo. Helen was an avid Elvis fan. Most of all she loved her family, they were all very important to her, but her most treasured moments were spent with her grandchildren. 

 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Victor Dean Kennedy and Richard Berry; as well as all of her siblings.


 She is survived by her five children, Bennie Bresette of Dowagiac; Dorothy Linville of South Carolina; Michael (Julie) Kennedy of Niles; Victoria Kennedy of Otsego and Helen (Jim) Pellegrini of Niles; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.


A memorial service will be held at Coulter’s Chapel Church of God, 3176 E. Detroit Road, Niles on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Frazier officiating.

 

Memorial donations may be made to breast cancer research or to Coulter’s Chapel Church of God.
