Hi Mother in Heaven: we both got the covid virus, and covid pneumonia. Mine (kevin's) went into remission with mild cough. Keith got it bad & went to emergency room for help. They sent him by ambulance to the local hospital, because of low oxygen level
(March 31, 2021). He stayed 11 days in vascular unit (respiratory & circulation). He was doing OK. On the 11th of April he had blood clot on leg & lung, but alert & in confident spirits. All along he texted me with his phone & called several times & I called him. He was in medical ICU from April 11 to April 15th, 2021. I saw him on video Mon thru Wed.
He said he was afraid, and I told him to hold my hand. (I could not visit hospital due to Covid regulations)-- He was nervous but relaxed later. In the morning he was courageous & told me "I LUU U, misspelling the word LOVE, and got put on a ventilator for oxygen therapy. He did good for 4 days. He had a dislocated shoulder by a nurse, and was re-set. I was POA and gave permission to have things done for him. His blood pressure went up & down. I was able to watch him by closed circuit tv or video. I spoke to him, read the Bible, I was there for him. On Thursday morning around 9:30 they called and said his heart stopped Mother. They couldn't revive him. I had a hard time getting in the hospital with all the Covid regulations. I knew he was gone & he went to Heaven. I got there and met the chaplain, earlier in the week I asked for chaplain to visit Keith & he prayed outside Keith's room. I held Keith's head from underneath, and rubbed his forehead. I kissed him twice while hugging him (wearing a mask). I held both of his hands & then held both of my hands on his left hand. The chaplain prayed & I held one hand to Heaven. I had to carry out his belongings Mother, and with arthritis was difficult. I sat in an outer hall & called some friends. Security drove me to the car. Don't feel sad Mother, it is OK. Keith told me if anything goes wrong he would see me in Heaven. I am sure you are with Him now. Love K & K your sons & husband too, I am sure you are Ok upstairs with them. Life has been hard during this Covid Pandemic.

hi mother in Heaven: Christmas 2019 went well. We have jobs & a place to live so don't worry about us. We play the "chipmunks" music all the time (Alvin), like at Grandmother's house. Love husband & your sons.

Dear Mother:
we received your cremation ashes & feel you with us. We know how unusual this situation is, to have the ashes. However, you were bold and you helped science advance with the donation of your body to science (MedCure) and helped some thoracic surgeons that train in emergency medicine. You helped make an impact on the advancement of medicine, and helped society even when you were gone. We always see birds daily & think of the days we sat together at the nursing home, watching the finches. You were funny, as you cleaned up the dining room table and took control of it. Everyone there loved you, love your sons, that visited you daily.

Dear Mother, I remember how you said, you "read the whole KJV Bible during high school" and we both took a Bible class together. I even sent that new Bible to you (in the mail) several years ago. I know how you loved that. And we loved your poems you sent. Love, your sons, husband & Gary (caretaker).

Dear Mother:
We know how you loved the birds at the nursing home & how you ordered coffee for your sons. They loved you there. We see your little window, and where you lived for a short time. We remember your wheel chair and the way you drove around the facility. You waited patiently for us to come and visit. It was sad to see you in the Emergency Room & on the life support, but you got well "a little" and showed them. You came back to life and breathed on your own. Then you went back "home" to the nursing home & we all did the best we could. With your last breath we held your hand and told you, we would meet you in Heaven. See you there darling Mother. We love you.
The Yellow Bird of the Nursing Home
Beautiful Heavenly bird of the Nursing Home
How you looked into my eyes
Maybe you knew more than we did
About life & death & love
But you too, will be with us
When we go upstairs and
Become a family once more
Dad will be waiting, he is lonely
Waiting for us...
Dear Birds of the Nursing Home,
Thanks for being wonderful angels
Noah is proud of you
And so is God
amen

Poem: The Nursing Home Birds
Fly my yellow bird
from one end to the other
of the cage, the white one too
with an orange beak, so meek--
Mother our hero
she taught us how to work
hard for a living
proud of our college education
and that we overcame many
obstacles as a family
Fly my yellow bird
you too, we will see you In Heaven
on the streets of gold
we love you mother & father

Thanks Mother for being a good mother. You helped us in the darkest times, with money, love & even buying a car for us. We know that you would do anything to help your family. The nursing staff at Medilodge loved you, helped you and cared for YOU & US too. The residents loved you too! I remember how I bent over the wheel chair and you gave us a kiss every time we left for the night. We even blew kisses to each other in the hallway. One time when it was winter & cold outside, you told me to "Not to forget your gloves." Our favorite activity at the nursing home was watching the birds, and you were so interested in how the healthy birds helped a dying bird in the bird cage. You laughed when the birds pecked at each other & groomed each other. It was nice to ask for "coffee for my family" when we visited. And you liked the coffee at Medilodge. The scary part was when you got the flu and stopped breathing and we met you at the hospital. You awoke and were scared on the ventilator, but we were by your side. At the end, you opened your eyes & agreed we would meet in Heaven. We love you, (your family) and extended nursing home family. God bless you.
