Obituary of Rodney Edward Haney
Rodney Edward Haney, 42, of Niles, passed away unexpectedly at Lakeland Hospital in Niles on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
Rodney was born on July 5, 1975, in Niles Michigan. He attended Niles High School and on December 14, 1996, he wed the love of his life, Micki Ditsch at a ceremony in Niles and then two had two children. Much of Rodney’s life he has struggled with sobriety and on September 17, 2016, Rodney made a change. At the time of his death, Rodney had proudly been sober for over 17 months with the help of his N.A. and A.A. family. Although he was faced with many trials and tribulations throughout his life, one thing remained a constant: Loyalty. A man loyal to not only the Michigan football team but a man loyal to his family and goals. The sheer personality that he possessed could light up a room, drawing both happiness and laughter out of those around him. He had a love for music and history. Although he has moved on from this life, he is not gone. His family and loved ones will carry on his memory, forever onwards. Perhaps one day, Rodney will even get to see a Michigan game in the big house, just like he always wanted. For now, though, it’s just a matter of, “We’ll see you then.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Haney.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Micki Haney of Niles; father, Charles (Mary) Monahan I of Niles; children, Jacob Haney of Niles and Heidi Haney of Niles; granddaughter, Elouise Susan Haney, who was the light of his life; siblings, Mark Haney of Niles, Julie Peppers of Niles, Kristina (Kyle) Florian of Dowagiac, Melissa Day of Sullivan, Indiana, Charles (Phylicia) Monahan II of South Bend, and John Monahan of Michigan; twenty nieces and nephews, and too many extended family members and close friends to even begin to count. Rodney touched the life of everyone he met.
