Obituary of Bertha "Bernice" Davis

Bernice Davis, 101, of Niles, MI, formerly of Kingsburg, California, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Riverridge Manor.

She was born in Swifton, Arkansas to Leonard and Cliffie (Jarrett) Nicholson on February 3, 2017.

Bernice married Herman W.  "Scott" Davis and to that union was born one son and one daughter.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Davis, her daughter Hattie Ruth Arguello and her grandson, Don Arguello Davis, who she adopted when Hattie Ruth passed away, six of her seven sisters Artie, Ada, Imel, Helen, Maxine and Pauline, and her great-grandson Trenton Scott Davis Guecho.

She is survived by her sister, Mabel Farley of Bisbee, Arizona, her son Herman (Fran) Davis of Niles, three grandchildren, Jeffery (Teresa) Davis of Auburn, WA,, Cindy Lewis of Hanford, CA and Chad Davis of  Niles, MI.,  five great-grandchildren,  six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Bernice took great pride in taking care of her home and children while her husband tended to the farm.  She also worked for 31 years at the Del Monte Cannery in Kingsburg.  When time allowed, she enjoyed playing games and had a group of friends who looked forward to crocheting together. 

Burial will take place at Kingsburg Cemetery at a later date.
