Aunt Helen is greatly missed. Her daily phone calls wanting to hear of my children's daily chronicles gave her great joy.....and us too! She never forget a story or accomplishment we shared. The last two years the calls were weekly, to nearly none, though when I called her she'd at least acknowledge Rj or I was calling or the nurse would politely say, she's not ready to talk, I'll give her the message, she's resting or watching tv, or I'd gear Auntie say, I don't know no Kim n hang up.....lol! I'd call back in a few days or weeks n she'd be quietly there, and at others times full of questions n wanting updates on Rj....!
Visiting Auntie down South at Big Mama's house was one of our favorite childhood memories, she always brought us POP! When she moved to Detroit, she was so proud of her son Jimmy n his work n the next trip to Buchanan n how the weather there was vengeful.....ha! Then she'd catch me up on Michael n his family in Louisiana.....Our family has a passion for FAST vehicles. When she n Jimmy moved permanently to Buchanan, she n Sister, beloved Grandma Frazier-Matten, would tag team us with laughter along Mrs. Jewel n Buchanan's latest news. Those phones calls, visits, sits on grandma's porch or Aunties living room will be cherished forever. So much i can say but.....The love, the laughtet, the wisecracks, side eye's, the shut yo'mouth n whatchusay's, family history n memories will last as long as I share n cherish them.
