Obituary of Nancy E Phillips

Nancy E. Phillips, 82, of Watervliet, formerly of Sturgis, South Haven, and Kalamazoo passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Hallmark Living in Benton Harbor.

She was born on June 1, 1935 in Kalamazoo to the late Carlton and Elizabeth (Babcock) Martens.

Nancy graduated from Vicksburg High School with the class of 1953, and received her LPN degree from Glen Oaks Community College. She worked as a nurse at Borgess and Bronson Hospitals, Countryside Nursing Home and most recently at Watervliet Hospital in the Rehabilitation Department. On April 3, 1998 she married Richard Phillips in Venice, FL.  Nancy loved her family, being around people and spending her free time at Lake Michigan enjoying the sand, sun and water.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Elizabeth (Babcock) Martens; and her husband, Richard.

She is survived by her daughters, Krista Beal of South Haven and Elizabeth (Robert) Kinsey of Sturgis; son, Cameron Beal of Tennessee; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Thieda of Charlotte, NC, and two nieces and a nephew.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest at North Shore Memory Garden in Coloma, MI on March 8, 2018 at 11:00 A.M .

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice at Home of Lakeland.
