Obituary of Boyd Edward Myers

Please share a memory of Boyd to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Boyd Edward Myers, Sr., 75, of Niles, passed away at his residence after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Boyd was born on November 21, 1942, in Niles, Michigan, to the late James and Helen (Shouerman) Myers.

While Boyd was out “cruising” with one of his friends he happened to see the love of his life, Judith Bolton.  He knew from that very moment that she was the one he wanted to share his life with.  On February 3, 1962, Boyd and Judith wed. After the marriage, Boyd and Judith began their family and from the moment he said “I do”, Boyd was passionate about taking care of his family.  He took many trips to dog shows with his wife, horse competitions with his daughter, and motorcycle trips with his sons.  Boyd loved to work the land and for many years he grew grain and wheat.  He was a building inspector for thirteen years for Milton Township, a welder and a part of Iron Workers #292 for over twenty years before his retirement in 1986.  He was an enthusiastic fisherman and commonly referred to his boat as “The Office”.  Not only did Boyd enjoy being on the lake he was also very involved in many local Four Wheel Drive Clubs with his truck “Swamp Fox”.  He drove all around the area and loved the time he got to spend with his family enjoying the competition.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Helen; a great-grandson, Austin Singleton; and brother, Allan Myers.

Boyd leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Judy; his two sons, Boyd (Cheryl) Myers, Jr., and Justin (Christian) Myers both of Niles; his daughter, Kathryn (Brian) VanDusen also of Niles; his grandchildren, Ryan Myers, Josh Krupp, Calvin VanDusen, Jada Myers, Paxton Myers, Alice Myers, Scotty Singleton, Leslie “Freddie” Singleton, Jr., and Angela Singleton; three great-grandchildren; his brother, David (Linda) Myers of Umatilla, Florida; sister, Alana Arsenau of Edwardsburg, Michigan; and many extended family members and friends.
