Obituary of Karen Lee Shaner

Karen L. (Cooper) Shaner, 80, of Niles passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Hallmark Living in Benton Harbor, MI.

Karen was born to the late Roy C. and Doris (Bowman) Cooper on February 20, 1937 in East Chicago, IN.

She married Donald Shaner on July 1, 1955 in South Bend, IN. She worked for several years at Simplicity Pattern Company in Niles and at K-Mart.

Karen is preceded by her parents; a brother, George Cooper.

She is survived by her husband Donald of Niles; daughters, Barbara (Douglas) Brown of  Newport, OH and Deborah (William) Matthews of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Joshua (Miranda) Matthews, Jason (Ashley) Matthews and Summer (Jeremy) Hathaway; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Persephone and Maisy; siblings, Lillian Chastain, Roy (Paulette) Cooper, Elenora Hibbard, Clifford (Joan) Cooper, Dorene (Arthur) Borkowski, William (Vickie) Cooper and Cynthia Cooper. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:30 in the morning at Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church, 61268 Indian Lake Rd, Niles, MI 49120. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
