Obituary of Robert LeRoy Hopper

Robert L. Hopper, 53, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at his residence with his wife by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Robert Hopper was born on February 17, 1961 in Niles to Jack and Gwen (Fisher) Hopper. On March 5, 2004 he married the love of his life Karen (Kromer) Hopper at a ceremony in Niles. He is preceded in death by his father Jack Hopper in 2009. Bob was a Niles High School graduate, class of 1979. He was currently employed at Delta Machining Inc. as a machinist, where he worked for over 25 years. Bob was very passionate about music and enjoyed playing in local bands as a drummer. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, and enjoyed watching Michigan, Detroit professional sports as well as the Bears. He liked bowling and loved playing golf with his family and friends. Bob cherished his Ford Mustang and John Deere tractor, working in the yard and mostly spending time with his wife and family. Bob is survived by his wife Karen Hopper of Niles, mother Gwen Hopper of Niles, a son John Robert (Rachel) Hopper of South Bend, daughter Leslie C. Hopper (Brandon) of Union, Michigan, step-son Mike (Kristin) Kromer of Niles, four grandchildren, a sister Patty (Pete) Masten of Niles, and three brothers; Ron (Penny) Hopper of Niles, Dave (Peggy) Hopper of Niles, Rick (Connie) Hopper of Dowagiac. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to Hospice at Home; 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home from 11:00am-1:00pm with Funeral Services starting at 1:00pm. Pastor Paul Deeds will be officiating the services.
