Obituary of Mary M. Booth

Mary Booth, 86, of Dowagiac, passed away at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo on Friday, September 15, 2017, following an illness. She was born in LaPorte, Indiana to the late John and Frieda (Zepke) Foster. Mary married Carl Saltzman Sr. and although that marriage ended, the couple was blessed with seven children. In 1979 Mary married Kenneth D. Booth and he preceded her in death in 1995. Mary was a hard worker, retiring after many years of factory work. Mary found her greatest treasure to be her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth D. Booth, a son, Carl Saltzman, Jr., a granddaughter, Shawn Ford, three brothers; Leonard, Charles and John Foster and a son-in-law, Verne Christensen. Mary is survived by her children; Frieda (Alan) Dawes of Chester, Virginia, Carol Martin of Winchester, Kentucky, John (Joanne) Saltzman Sr. of Chicago, Joan (Jose) Esquivia of Chicago, Betty (Jerry) Hydorn of White Pigeon and Wanda Saltzman of Dowagiac, fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, siblings; Annie (Elson) Holdread of Plymouth, Indiana, Gertrude Weaver of Baroda, Helen Flugrath of St. Joseph, Robert (Judy) Foster of Coloma, Lawrence (Charlene) Foster of Grand Rapids and Lee (Peggy) Foster of St. Joe. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel in Niles at 1:00 pm. A time of visitation will begin at the chapel at Noon.
