Obituary of Constance Gerencser

Constance "Connie" Eileen Gerencser, 80, of Millburg, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 while surrounded by her family. Connie was born on April 27, 1933 to the late Truman and Dorothy (Moore) Cornwell in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Connie graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1951. On January 3, 1955 Connie wed John Gerencser in South Bend, Indiana. Connie was a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. They raised four daughters on the family farm that they operated together. Connie enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Artist Guild and a member and volunteer at the North Berrien Sr. Center where she was an avid line dancer. Her hobbies included drawing portraits and other sketches, computers and technology, bowling, watching movies, attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's ball games and events and growing perfect flowers in her garden. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John and brother George Cornwell. Connie is survived by her four daughters Victoria "Vicki" (Bud) Williams of Coloma, Michigan, Jane (Bob) Edelberg of Millburg, Nancy (Mario) Palmisano of Buchanan and Pam (Dan) Berry of Millburg; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister Barbara Lewis of Topeka, Kansas; sister-in-law Feetz Cornwell of Eagle River, Wisconsin and a host of extended family members and good friends. Connie's family will be holding a graveside committal service at Millburg Cemetery on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Connie's name may do so to the American Cancer Society or Hospice at Home of Lakeland in St. Joseph.
