Obituary of Joseph Moore

Joseph Moore, 83, of Niles passed to his rest on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan.
Joseph was born to the late Antony and Dorothy (Timmons) Moore on September 4, 1930 in Walls, Mississippi.
After graduation Joseph served his county proudly in United States Army. Joseph returned from his service and settled down in Chicago where he began to raise his five children, to whom he was categorically devoted to along with his grandchildren. Joseph has always been very dedicated and given much service to Resurrection Lutheran Church in Chicago. He was a past council member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church, he was also instrumental in the construction of the first all-purpose building and school. He has been an advocate for the NAACP his entire life and was a staunch Democrat. Joseph was currently a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niles.
He is preceded by his parents, his sons Walter and Darryl Moore, his two sisters Rosalyn Moore and Marcia Moore.
He is survived by his three daughters, Phyllis Jackson, Renee McGee, and Beverly Bradshaw all of Chicago; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four brothers, James Carter of Chicago, John (Charlotte) Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, William Moore of St. Louis, and Mark Moore of Augusta, Georgia; four sisters, Jacquelyn Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona, Mary Hill of Los Angeles, California, Michelle Moore of St. Louis and Diane (Walter) Williams of Florissant, Missouri and daughter-in-law Belinda Moore of Chicago.
Joseph's family will be hosting a memorial service on Saturday, June 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niles at 11:00 a.m.
Donations may be made in Joseph's memory to the NAACP, National Chapter located at 4805 Mt. Hope Drive, Baltimore, MD 21215.
