Obituary of Ray Lee Carter

Ray Lee Carter, 73, of Niles, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 26, 2014. He was born on March 19, 1941 to the late Bob and Virgie (Braddish) Carter in Piggot, Arkansas. After school Ray went on to work at C & S Machine Products in Buchanan. He was a member of Bethel Tabernacle in Niles for over 26 years. Ray was very devoted to his faith and his church. He met Gloria Humphrey at a neighboring church and the two wed December 2, 1989. Ray loved to spend his free time fishing, hunting or mowing the lawn. He enjoyed mowing the lawn so much that he even took care of the church's lawn for close to 20 years. On December 21, 2012 Ray retired from C & S after more than 45 years of dedicated service. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Virgie and sisters, Ruby Carter, Mearttle Carter and Goldie Hollingsworth. He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Gloria Carter; step-sons Mike(Maggie) Humphrey of Clarksville, Tennessee, Richard Humphrey of Henderson, Kentucky, Daryl Humphry of Mountain City, Tennessee and Douglas Humphrey of Henderson, Kentucky; five grandchildren and countless extended family, friends and church family. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 4-6 p.m. at Bethel Tabernacle located at 71378 Ironwood Drive in Niles with funeral services beginning at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Matthew Bair will be officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
