Obituary of John C. Glenn

John C. "Jay" Glenn, 85, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, August, 2, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana, following a brief illness.
He was born on February 26, 1929 in Judsonia, Arkansas to the late Albert E. and Elsie M. (Schmidt) Glenn.
After graduating from high school, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. On September 22, 1951 John married the love of his life, Dorothy Tedder at a ceremony in Arkansas. He retired from Bendix after 18 years of service. John's hobbies and interest included fishing, hunting, playing cards and treasure hunting at garage sales. He mostly enjoyed time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert "Bobby" Glenn.
John is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Glenn of Niles, two sons Mike (Rita) Glenn of South Bend, Randy (Terri) Glenn of South Bend, a daughter Sherry (Ned) Parker of Kendallville, Indiana, a sister Nora Lee Simmons of Judsonia, Arkansas, 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for John will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel located at 61453 M-51 in Niles with visitation beginning one hour prior. An interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with his 7 grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the Disabled American Veterans.
