When I think of living on Sioux Trail, swimming and growing up alongside the Craig children, I smile. Be thankful that you have each other to help you get through these unbearable times. Your father couldn't have been more proud of any of you. Jim has always cared about his family's well-being, above anything. He was a man who believed in trying your absolute best in all that you do- a belief Roberta, Lindsay, Dustin, Mo and Sean clearly live out as well. His passion for education and the community will never be forgotten. My whole heart goes out to the entire Craig family, I love you all so, so much.

I first met Jim thru our daughters who we both wanted to give every opportunity to succeed as basketball players. I knew right away that there was one thing Jim and I had in common. We both hated to lose. He instilled a spirit within both of his daughters to give their absolute best effort all of the time. Lindsay and Mo both had an inner drive to succeed. No one had to push them to work harder. I know exactly where they learned that from. Jim's daughters were polite and had good manners. I know where they learned that from. Jim's daughters were great students. I know where they learned that from. Jim's daughters were motivated to help others succeed. I know where they learned that from. Jim's daughters were willing to serve others. I know where they learned that from. Jim knew the rewards that tough love would give his daughters as they became adults. Jim did not care whether tough love was the in fashion or not.
In my opinion and observation the most important thing Jim wanted to achieve was that he loved his family with his whole heart and spirit. I am certain that when he met his Maker he received an A+.

Roberta & Family,
Jim was not only a great friend to me but a mentor. He always had a listening ear while giving me excellent advice. Jim was a servant to public education and loved to positively impact the lives of children. He always pushed me, in his own little way, to strive for excellence. A lot of who I am is influenced by what I learned from Jim. He cared more about serving others than he did in serving himself. A great man is lost and will be forever remembered! I am forever in debt to Jim for giving me my start in a job that I love. Our whole family has your whole family in our thoughts and prayers.

To the Craig family--
I am so sorry for your loss. Jim was a great man and part of the reason I am a teacher today. Without him being so generous and offering to be my university supervisor, I probably would have not been able to do my student teaching here at home. I learned so much from him during that short period of time and plan to use many of his tips in order to be the best teacher I can. I am very blessed to have gotten to work with him! I love you all and you are in my thoughts!!!! He will be missed but never forgotten!

Roberta, Lindsay, Dustan, Maureen, and Sean:
Words cannot express the sadness and emptiness we all feel at the loss of Jim. He was such a wonderful person who truly loved his family and was always happy to share his pride. It showed to all who came in contact with him with the huge smile he would get on his face when talking about each one of you. It has been such a pleasure to watch each of you grow up over the years into the wonderful people each of you are. Jim was always so kind to all of us whether it was coaching Evan in football or baseball (he still considers him one of his favorite coaches), cheering Ethan on even when we were on opposite sides (esp. Eddies vs Bucks football) or showing support to Elyse with her basketball and track - he always took the time to show his support and friendship. Jim became my "voice of reason" especially with our decision to change schools and especially over the past six months - he had a gift for keeping situations in perspective and I will always be so grateful for his wonderful advice. We may all miss Jim but his smile, love and spirit will truly live on in each one of you - it already does and I know it will continue throughout your lives. God bless you all & know that not just us but the entire community is here to love and support each one of you.

The Niles-Buchanan Community has lost a true treasure. I had the upmost pleasure in broadcasting Jim's kids in their respective sports on WNIL. Whether it was Lyndsey & Mo in Lady Viking Basketball, Dustin in Buchanan football and as recent as Sean in Niles Wrestling, where I even had the pleasure of Jim helping us with a broadcast of a big Niles wrestling match. I also remember the Motorhome Tailgate Parties at Buchanan Football games, that Jim & Roberta would always invite us too. On behalf of my wife Trish and my Dad (RC), our hearts go out to Roberta & the kids during this very sad time. God Speed Jim, you will be TRULY missed.

Words can't express the sadness that I feel at the loss of your husband and father. He was such a good man. We have so many wonderful memories over the years.
I have always loved this quote, "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."

There are no words ease your pain. If anyone were to ask me to say the first thing that comes to mind when the name Jim Craig is mentioned, I would say he was a man who loved and lived for his family. I don't think I ever saw him when he wasn't with at least one of you, unless it was at an event supporting your participation. From now on he will always have the best seat in the house. RIP.

As Mr. Craig, you were an amazing and inspirational principal. Now, that I am in the world of education, I see even more just how amazing and unique you were. You cared and went above and beyond.
As Jim, you welcomed me as an additional member of your family for many years. You were supportive, funny, and caring beyond words. You were so loved.
To the family, thank you for helping to teach me what love is. You have given me more than you will ever know from memories, to inspiration, advice and a way to live life.
