Obituary of Sylvia M. Brenner

Sylvia M. Brenner, 67, of Battle Creek, passed away September 1, 2014 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 27, 1947 to the late Humphrey and Myrtle (Durham) McBride in McMinnville, Tennessee. On July 7, 1986 she married Clarence Brenner at a ceremony in Battle Creek. Sylvia was always happiest when surrounded by her family, growing up in a family of eight children Sylvia quickly became accustomed to large gatherings and as she became older she was happiest when everyone could be together. She also enjoyed working outside and tending to her yard, or attending church at the Potter's House, where she had been a member for several years. Preceding Sylvia in death were her husband, Clarence; her parents; five siblings, Lois McBride, Helen Feltner, Laman McBride, Wilbur McBride and Wilma Hebbon. She is survived by her three brothers, Willis (Shirley) McBride of Battle Creek, Clinton "Clint" (Kay) McBride of Battle Creek and Lester (Carlene) McBride of Tennessee and a special nephew Jason (Liz) McBride of Battle Creek and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Sylvia will be Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Potter's House Church at 7:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior with Rev. Austin Hopper officiating.
