Obituary of Bobby Joe Green

Bobby Joe "Bob" Green, 60, of Sodus, formerly of Coloma, passed away at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 23, 2017, following a courageous battle of COPD. Bob was born on September 2, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles L. and Eunice M. (Burnside) Green. After high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. Bob owned and operated a lawn care business for many years as well as a restaurant in Arkansas. He also worked in construction, building and remodeling local homes. Bob married Julianna J. Hoffman on April 14, 1976 in Benton Harbor. Bob enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and camping. He was a gifted woodcraftsman and will be remembered for his great sense of humor. Bob's home was always open to anyone and everyone and he was proud to feel like the father of the community. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles Green and two sisters, Teresa Hoffman and Sherry Green. Bob is survived by his wife of over forty-two years, Julianna Green of Sodus, four daughters; Christal (Rodney) Scott of Benton Harbor, Amanda "Amy" Green of Sodus, Rebecca "Becky" Green (Jeff Bammann) of Benton Harbor and Janice Green of Sodus, eight grandchildren; Charity, Cali, Devin, Ben, Chasity, Erica, Billy and Dustin. He is also survived by his siblings; Jim Green of Lansing, Sheila (James) Taylor of Tennessee and Gary (Ann) Green of Tennessee as well as a host of "heart children", nieces and nephews. Bob also had a very special relationship with his brother-in-law's and sister-in-law's. A time of visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles on Wednesday, September, 27, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Full military honors will be performed by the US Navy and the Fort Custer Honor Guard at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
