Obituary of Evelyn I. Dohse

Evelyn I. Dohse, 88, of Niles, passed away at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. She was born on April 25, 1924 in LaGrange Township in Cass County to the late John Clifford and Matie Alice (Miller) Perry. On October 31, 1942 Evelyn married Lyle "Bud" Dohse at a ceremony in Defiance, Ohio. A homemaker most of her life, during the war she worked at National Standard on a stranding machine. Her favorite past-times included playing cards for hours, knitting, living on the farm and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of great faith and a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ in Cassopolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle "Bud" Dohse and two sisters Ethel Skinner and Edith M. Shoumake. Evelyn is survived by her four children; John (Kelly Baumann) Dohse of Edwardsburg, Lyle L. "Buzz" (Beki) Dohse of Cassopolis, Alice Rienks of Niles and Delores Scott of Anchorage, Alaska, nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel in Niles with Pastor Jeff Oliver officiating. A time of visitation will begin one hour prior. Evelyn will be laid to rest beside her husband at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's memory to the Disabled Veterans of America.
