Obituary of Austin M. Everett

Please share a memory of Austin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Though our heartbreak will last forever, our faith in God will see us through these turbulent waters and peace of heart will someday return. Austin was taken from us far too soon on October 24, 2014. The things that gave Austin joy and provided his family with so much pride were his unending kindnesses, he deeply cared for others, and he was always willing to help another in need. He felt for the less fortunate, the elderly, the forgotten and those that had less than he. Austin graduated from Saint Joseph High School and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College before working in the public service industry. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He enjoyed buying and reading vintage books and had to be practically dragged out of old book stores. Theology, Philosophy, computers, and music were some of his favorites. Guitar and harmonica were his forte and he was able to play any instrument he sat down in front of with his long gentle fingers. Austin was extraordinarily intrigued by the mysteries and meanings of our faith in God and often pondered the possibilities. Traveling and adventure were always a favorite. Road trips, hunting and fishing with Dad, family camping, spending time together and long talks of hopes and dreams with Mom, concerts and Umphrey's McGee festivals with Sarah, and walks in the woods in the rain, snow or sunshine gave him much pleasure. Austin will always be remembered for his great love for dogs and children and will be greatly missed by his labs Sophie and Rudy. Our only son is survived by his parents Mike and Char Everett, his sister Sarah Everett, his paternal Grandparents Dennis and Jeanne Everett, and his maternal Grandmother Janie VanWynsberghe along with scores of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather Chuck L. VanWynsberghe. We cling to the fact that life is anything but predictable however memories can sustain a lifetime. We love you Son, Brother and Friend. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour before a Memorial Mass and Celebration of life with mass beginning at 11:00 AM Friday , October 31, at Christ The King Catholic Church, 52472 State Road 933, South Bend, IN. Pastor Rev. Neil Wack officiating. The family would like to thank everyone for the many calls and offers of help. We know you loved Austin and want to be there for him and us. There have been many requests on what can be given to help. Austin loved others, animals and music. It gave him happiness to do things for others and to walk among God's world with eyes open to its magnificence. Instead of flowers that fade away or a casserole, please just Pay It Forward for our Austin. He would love that very much. The Food Pantry, an extra gift for the Giving Tree at Christmastime. Visit someone that is alone and lonely. Plant a tree, go for a walk in the woods. A rescue pet? He would surely have loved a dozen of those. Please Pay It Forward and say a prayer for our dearly missed Austin.
