Robert "Bob" D. Cameron, 82, of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Signature Healthcare following an extended fight with diabetes. He was born in Roscommon, Michigan to the late Lynn and Gertrude (Weaver) Cameron. After graduating high school, Bob served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Japan. He received Christ into his life in 1951 at Bertrand Bible Church. Accepting his calling, Bob received his bachelor's degree in Theology from Calvary Bible College and was a minister from 1954-1971. In 1957 Bob wed Gayle M. Mann and to that union, spanning forty years, three children were born. In 1971 he pursued his love of automobiles and began a second career in auto sales working for Bremen Ford until his retirement in 1994. On October 22, 1997 he married Rose "Rosalyn" Hechtman at a ceremony in Louisville, Kentucky and the two of the have enjoyed living, loving and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings. Robert is survived by his wife Rosalyn Cameron of South Bend, children; Michael (Faith) Cameron of Berrien Springs, Melodie (Marty) Kline of Niles and Mark (Moriah) Cameron of Colorado, Rosalyn's children; Gilbert Levine of Florida, Marty (Linda) Levine of South Bend and Sarah Hechtman of California, 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to American Diabetes Foundation. Bob's family will gather privately at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Committal services will follow the memorial at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, in Augusta, Michigan, where full military honors will be rendered.
