Obituary of Victor L. Wyant

Victor L. Wyant, 90, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 5, 1927 in Berrien Center to the late Clarence and Anna Mary (Sommer) Wyant. Victor graduated Dowagiac High School, class of 1946. On October 10, 1948 he married Donna J. Fraze at a ceremony in Niles. He was a dairy farmer his entire life and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Victor was a bus driver for the Niles Community Schools for over sixteen years. Victor served his community in a variety of positions; He served as the Pokagon Township Treasurer for thirty years, served on the Cass County Fair Board, Director of both the Sumnerville and Champlain Schools, as well as the Cass County Fair Grand Marshall in 1996. Victor also gave much of his time to the Cass County 4-H, where he served as a Key Leader for more than fifty years. Victor was a founding member of the Berrien County Fair. Victor was also a man of great faith and a member of Coulter's Chapel Church of God. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hazel Hinkle; two brothers, Oscar and Harry Wyant and a daughter-in-law, Robin Wyant. Victor is survived by his wife, of over sixty-eight years, Donna Wyant of Dowagiac; his children, Diana (William) Grabemeyer of Dowagiac, Wanda (Allen) Fogo of Golden, Colorado, Donald Wyant of Dowagiac, Sandra (Gary) Wank of Mattawan, Michael (Mary Ann) Wyant of Finchville, Kentucky and Ellen (Todd) Petro of Dowagiac; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Versaw of Sodus. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, 61453 M51 in Niles with Pastor David Frazier officiating.
