Obituary of Dave L. Ballard

Dave L. Ballard, 64, of South Bend, Indiana, and formerly a lifelong Niles resident, passed away at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, following a brief illness. Dave was born on July 3, 1950 to the late Cecil and Edith (Marzel) Ballard in Niles. On August 21, 1971 Dave wed Carol Shrider at a ceremony in Buchanan, Michigan. Dave was a gifted tool and die worker for Buchanan Steel and worked for Delta Machine for many years and filled a variety of capacities from management to sales. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and in his younger years competitively riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed golfing with friends, driving muscle cars and more recently Dave and Carol could be seen cruising the area in their golf cart. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kandi Jo Ballard and a brother Harold Ballard. Dave is survived by his wife, Carol Shrider-Ballard of South Bend, daughter Trisha Ballard (Sara Sherman) of Niles, a sister Linda Ballard of South Haven as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
