Obituary of Jean W. Frenthway

Jean W. (Fox) Williams Frenthway, 97, of Cassopolis, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at The Timbers of Cass County, following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 16, 1917 in Cassopolis, Michigan to the late Ernest and Edith (Wickens) Fox. Jean graduated from high school and shortly thereafter married Ray Williams in 1935 at a ceremony in Cassopolis. Three children were born to that union and Jean adored her husband Ray, who preceded her in death in 1970. In 1974 Jean married Bob Frenthway in Kalamazoo, where the couple resided until his passing in 1988. Jean moved back to Cassopolis, a town she had loved immensely. Her family had been one of the founding settlers of Cassopolis and the family had a great interest in seeing Cassopolis doing well. Jean was a farmer most of her life and was never afraid of hard work. Her friends were also very important to Jean. She enjoyed flowers, reading and art. She was involved for many years at the South Bend and Kalamazoo art institutes. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband's Ray Williams and Bob Frenthway, two brothers Kenneth and Howard Fox and a sister Marie Etter. Jean is survived by a son S.R. (Sandy) Williams of Kalamazoo, two daughters Anne (Ken) Cooper of Roswell, New Mexico and Sue Williams of Cassopolis, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In keeping with Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will remember her privately. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Library.
