Obituary of Richard Dircks

Richard "Dick" Dean Dircks, 80, of Niles, passed away at his home on Sunday, February, 1, 2015. Dick was born on May 18, 1934 to the late Frederick and Loretta (Crawford) Dircks in South Bend, Indiana. After graduating from Niles High School in 1952 Dick wed the love of his life, Sharon Murry, at a ceremony in Niles on November 6, 1954. Dick was a union pipefitter; he worked at many different locations but at his retirement had worked at Bendix/Honeywell for many years. Dick was a lifetime member of The Elks Lodge #1322 in Niles and a lifelong Chicago Bears fan through and through. Dick had one main joy in his life, though he liked bowling and golf his biggest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren grow up. He attended all of their sporting events and lived for spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife, of 60 years, Sharon Dircks of Niles; children Richard (Louise) Dircks, Jr. of Sedona, Arizona, Randy (Kathy) Dircks of Chester, New Hampshire and Roberta (Jack) Ort of Niles; grandchildren, Shaunna (Kris) Emmons, Joseph Mark, Montgomery (Ashley) Ort, Taylor Ort, and Rachael Ort; one great grandson Liam and brother Lester (Kathryn) Dircks of Niles. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel in Niles from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and a private burial will take place.
