I believe that my husband, Ernie Crane, worked with Roy at the Nuclear Plant. I had heard Ernie talk of him often - and how much he respected him. Ernie passed away Oct. 2013, and I have no way of asking him now - but I was quite sure, when I read the name in the paper, that Ernie had mentioned Roy on more than one occasion. My condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.

Years ago a group of us were about to tee off, with the domed green of a par 3 at our backs. Being mid-week, no one else was visible on the golf course, except Roy. He strolled around the green toward our tees and asked: "Anybody see a ball?" He was playing solo and his tee shot landed on the green and apparently rolled off the back side towards us. We helped him search but soon gave up, without ever glancing into the cup. Roy skipped to the next hole and finished out his solo round. We played on and four holes later, on that same par three green, found a ball in the cup. We took the ball and quizzed him the next morning. "What ball were you playing, Roy?"
Roy smiled a lot, had fun in life and was very smart, and he missed his own hole in one.

Although I did not work with Roy for very long in Engineering Programs, his knowledge and expertise were easy to pick up on when he discussed his program. Roy was a great person, and we will all miss his presence in the "nuclear doublewide".

I have worked closely with Roy in Engineering Programs since he came to Cook Nuclear Plant in 1999. There is no better person to work than Roy. His knowledge, and his willingness to share that knowledge, made it a pleasure to work with him. His involvement in several nuclear industry groups made him a valuable member of our team. I considered him a friend and he will be missed.
