Obituary of Ethel Hoyt

Clara Ethel Hoyt, 91, of Pokagon, passed away at home on Saturday, February 14, 2015 with her family by her side. Ethel was born in Pokagon, Michigan on September 15, 1923 to the late Frank and Clara (Walker) Virgil. On November 24, 1945 Ethel wed the love of her life Charles "Russ" Hoyt. Ethel worked at Electrovoice for 10 years. After her retirement from there she and Russ enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and spent many summers on Eagle Lake in Decatur with their friends and family. She was a long time member of Pleasant View Church of Christ. Ethel also loved to play cards, especially Pinochle, and go fishing in Canada with family friends when she was younger. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russ Hoyt; son, Ray Hoyt; daughter Lois Littrell and siblings Vivian Merritt, Bunny Vancor, Roy Virgil, Charles Virgil and Franklin Virgil. Ethel is survived by her children Patricia (Frank) Krasnowuski of Talono, Illinois, Charlene Hoyt of Cassopolis, Joseph Hoyt of Niles, Randy (Lynette) Hoyt of Niles, and Debra (Mike) Judy of Mattawan, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.
