Obituary of Betty Ann Griffis

Betty Ann Griffis, 85, of Niles passed away at her home on Saturday, February 28, 2015 with her daughter by her side. Betty was born on April 6, 1929 to Charles and Myrtle (Masse) Nitti. Shortly after birth she was adopted by the Peterson family. She graduated from Dowagiac High School and on October 25, 1952 she wed Earl Griffis at a ceremony in Dowagiac. She later retired from Simplicity Pattern Company. Betty was precede in death by her parents and one grandson. She is survived by her son, Lawrence (Joann) Hilliker of Niles; daughter, Linda Lewis of Niles; four grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Isabelle Nitti and brother, Walter "Wally" Peterson of Sister Lakes. Funeral services for Betty will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at First Church of Christ Christian at 2:00 p.m., visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. with a private burial at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
