Obituary of Mildred Bray

Mildred Bray, 83, of Niles, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 8, 2015 while surrounded by her family. Mildred was born on July 4, 1931 to the late Clemmie Hunter in Jackson, Tennessee. Mildred worked as a chef for many different restaurants but retired from Notre Dame where she had worked for many years. Mildred was also a long time member of Apostolic Christian Tabernacle in Niles. Mildred was known to open her home to anyone that was in need. Many people came to her for help and she would gladly invite them in, feed them a hot meal and give them a place to rest. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joseph Bennett, Clara Weddle, Jessie May Ellison and Hattie May Bennett. She is survived by one sister, Mary Hunt of Niles; her children, James Bray of Niles, Ronnie (Pamela) Bray of Buchanan and Marcus (April) Bray of Niles; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; God-daughters Sandra Morgan and Tori Smith and longtime friend Essie D. Smith. Homegoing services for Mildred will be at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles on Friday, March 13, 2015, interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
