Obituary of Junie Modlin

Junie M. Modlin, 75, of Niles passed away peacefully at West Woods of Niles on Sunday, October 15, 2017, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on April 11, 1942 in South Bend to the late Roy G. and Betty L. (Singleton) Fillmore. In 1957 Junie married William Modlin at a ceremony in Granger, Indiana. Junie was retired after twenty years of driving a school bus for Brandywine Public Schools. She enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, cooking and working in her vegetable garden. Junie mostly cherished her time spent with family, especially the many family retreats in Baldwin, Michigan She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald "Tiny" Modlin; a grandson, Brandon Modlin; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Modlin. Junie is survived by her husband of over sixty years, William Modlin, Sr.; her children, Robert Modlin, Sandra (Tim) Reichanadter and William Modlin Jr., Charles (Debbie) Modlin all of Niles, thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren; her siblings; Donald (Bev) Fillmore of South Bend, Ruby (Jack) Middleton of Mishawaka, Leora (Vance) Warren of Mishawaka, Roger (Elizabeth) Fillmore of Mishawaka and Delbert (Margaret) Fillmore of South Bend as well as many nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home with an interment following at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. The family of Junie Modlin wishes to express their gratitude for all of the family, friends and staff of West Woods of Niles for their care and love shown during this journey. Memorial contributions may be made in Junie's memory to the American Cancer Society.
