Obituary of Robert E. Gordon

Robert E. Gordon, 82, of Niles passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Robert was born to the late Roland and Wilma (May) Gordon in Niles, Michigan on May 3, 1935. After graduating from Niles High School in 1953, Robert married Marilyn Jones on June 12, 1954. Robert was a driven man and was able to accomplish one of his dreams when he started Gordon Engineering. He enjoyed several pastimes outdoors, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and snowmobiling to name a few. In fact, Robert was even a founding member of the Four Flags Snowmobile Club. He also took great pleasure in traveling. His family fondly remembers what a great man Robert was and his extraordinary dedication to his family. Robert was a generous soul and was known for assisting others whenever possible. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Wilma Gordon. Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn Gordon; his three sons, Mike (Jan) Gordon, Bobby (Traci) Gordon, and David (Connie) Gordon all of Niles. He will also be missed by his nine grandchildren, his eight great-grandchildren, his sisters, Vivian Hunt of Bryon, Michigan and Mary Jane Rumpf of South Bend. Visitation for Robert will take place on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main Street, Niles, from 5-7 p.m. with the funeral service on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, 61453 M-51, Niles at 11 a.m. Those wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to Hospice at Home located at 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
