Obituary of Tammie Lynn Gersitz

Tammie L. (Alexis) Gersitz, 47, of Dowagiac, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Friday, May 15, 2015. Tammie was born to Eugene and Alice (Webster) Alexis on March 1, 1967 in Buchanan, Michigan. She married James Gersitz at a ceremony in Cassopolis, Michigan on May 8, 1998. Tammie loved to be outside working in her vegetable and flower garden or inside cooking and baking. She also was an avid Nascar fan especially Tony Stewart and Dale Jarret. She was a kind hearted woman who had a soft spot for animals and always enjoyed bird watching. Above all else, Tammie treasured any time she could spend with her family. She is preceded in death by father, Eugene. She is survived by her husband, James, her two sons, Drew (Adriana) Gersitz of Ocala, Florida and Ryan Ridenour of Adrian, her three daughters Danielle (Justin) Kasper of Elkhart, Indiana and Jasmine Gersitz of Fort Wayne and Rikki (Brian) Spicher of Decatur, her mother, Alice (Webster) Alexis, her sister Jamie (Dean) Brobant of Goshen, Indiana, and eleven grandchildren. Services for Tammie will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel with a time of visitation one hour before. Memorial contributions in Tammie's memory can be made to her family in care of Brown Funeral Home at 521 East Main Street, Niles, MI 49120.
