Olive Shembarger July 7, 1929 - June 24, 2015 Olive Ileene Shembarger, 85, of Benton Harbor, passed away at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Olive was born on July 7, 1929 to the late Sanford and Georgia (Gallup) Sweet in Harvard, Illinois and on April 9, 1947 Olive wed Norbert Shembarger at a ceremony in Benton Harbor. Together they had three sons. In her free time she enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; and great grandson Ryan. Olive is survived by her children James Shembarger of Benton Harbor, Norbert (Deborah) Shembarger of Eau Claire, and Steven (Tammy) Shembarger of St. Joseph; grandchildren Cheryl (Wayne) Prescott, Vincent Shembarger, Joanna (Mike) Cohan, Drew (Shayla) Shembarger, Nicole (James) Ivy, Ashley (Will) Thorsberg and Benjamin Shembarger; great grandchildren Autumn, Brooke, Connor, Johnny, Morgan, Lee and James and sisters Geraldine Glass of Benton Harbor, Leona Brucher of Branson, Missouri and Hazel Church of Woodstock, Illinois. In keeping with Olive's wishes she has been cremated and her family will be having a private graveside at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan.
