Obituary of Walter S. Rush

Walter S. Rush, 73, of Niles, passed from this life into God's presence on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Silverbrook Manor, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 7, 1940 in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania to the late Elmer S. and Ellen Faith (Craig) Rush.
On July 19, 1957 Walter married the love of his life Veola Bedwell at a ceremony in Battle Creek, Michigan.
He owned and operated Rush Building of Niles, Michigan for many years. He also served as the Pastor of Church of God of Prophecy in Niles. Walter enjoyed cars and enjoyed drag racing, ISCA Custom Car Shows and was a classic car builder. He was a man of great faith and was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather, always attending his grandchildren's sporting events when possible. On most days Walter could also be found spoiling his dogs.
Walter was preceded in death by his father and step-mother Elmer S. (Velma) Rush, his mother Ellen F. Pago, a daughter Stephanie Rush and a sister Shirley Rush.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years Veola Rush of Niles, three sons; Charles (Shannon) Rush of Indianapolis, Indiana, Todd (Susan) Rush of St. Joseph and Barry (Carol) Rush of South Bend, Indiana, a daughter Michele (Rick) Bedell of Niles, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers Don (Donna) Myers of Battle Creek and Butch (Doris) Rush of Battle Creek, six sisters; Jean (John) Swartz of Templeton, Pennsylvania, Patty (Don) Speck of Battle Creek, Penny Reed of Battle Creek, Gloria Burdett of Battle Creek, Mary Lou Davis of Florida and Nancy Rush of Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30th at 11:00a.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel. An interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
Walter's family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and care shown to Walter and his family while being lovingly cared for by the staffs of Silverbrook Manor and Hospice at Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Walter's memory to Hospice at Home, Inc. 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
