Michele & Gregg Carlson posted a condolence

Gregg & I have known Harold about 30 years as his fellow church friends. Gregg and I visited his home as his home teacher and myself as (Harold's wife) Vera's visiting teacher and also as his care manager from Area Agency on Aging. Gregg remembers Harold as a good friend, how he would walk to the American Legion in Bangor twice a day to raise and lower the flag. I remember this quiet man, playing a pretty good Santa Claus when my kids were young, he was a little stouter back than. The older kids knew who it was but my youngest, Tyler did not have a clue. I don't remember how many years he provided this service to our little group. He was rather quiet until you asked about the kids and grand-kids and great grand-kids. He also enjoyed watching all the old cowboy movies and war documentaries on cable. I would see him reading his scriptures every day until his eyes got so he couldn't read them. The bible especially was tattered and well worn. He fully embraced the Church of Jesus Christ even though his wife did not join for years. Which after she did, was a happy time for him. He would always ask about my parents, how were their health if they weren't at Church or away during the winter. Gregg would often call him on non-dialysis days and ask him if he would go out home teaching with him if he felt up to it. He usually would go. Harold rarely complained. He silently grieved when his wife and his daughter Margie passed away and shed a tear or two. We will miss Bro. Redaway and want his family to know how we loved and treasured him. Michele and Gregg Carlson, South Haven.
