Obituary of David E. Davis

David E. Davis, 73, of Dowagiac, passed away July 7, 2015 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. David was born November 1, 1941 to the late Joe and Louise (Harris) Davis in Decatur, Alabama. David wed Susan (Spivey) Davis at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan in 1976. David was an amazing; husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He enjoyed walleye -fishing with his family in Canada for over twenty years. David enjoyed hunting and loved his grandchildren and dogs; he could regularly be found enjoying a glass of Jack with his friends. David was very social and never missed the opportunity to tell a joke to anyone who'd listen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise; son, David Thompson and brother; Boyce Davis. David is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Davis, sister; Ann Brumfield, children; Tammy (Mark) Hessey, Karon (Mike) Mercado, Terri (David) Fryman, Christine (Thom) Shaer, Kelli Davis and Mark Luthringer, Steven (Michelle) Davis, Stacy (Jeff) Toy, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In keeping with David's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the family in care of Brown Funeral Home at 521 E. Main Street, Niles, Michigan 49120. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.
