Obituary of Thomas George Kubond

Thomas G. Kubond, 80, of Niles passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. He was born on December 11, 1934 in Seney, Michigan to the late Robert and Mary (Hollingshead) Kubond. Tom served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. On July 8, 1977 he married Kathleen McQuaid at a ceremony in Niles. He worked for many years as a flooring installer for Joers Carpet One in Mishawaka. He enjoyed puzzels, an avid coin collector, bowling, golfing, learning history and had been a member of the Niles AMVETS. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathleen, a brother and three sisters. He is survived by his two step-daughters Suellyn Bivens and Patricia Sims, both of Niles, a granddaughter Kristin Bivens (Justin Flagel) of Niles, a sister Grace Gamache of Saginaw, along with many nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Brown Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Ruth Walkotten officiating. An interment with military honors will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's memory to Hospice at Home.
