Mercedes Viola Cole, 64, of Niles, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 8, 2015 with her family by her side.
Mercedes was born on June 20, 1951 to the late Ralph and Virginia Stites in South Bend, Indiana. She wed Melvin Cole, Sr. and together the two raised four children.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ralph Stites and Dennis Stites; and sister, Tonnie Tucker.
Mercedes is survived by her husband Melvin Cole, Sr.; children, Allen (Michelle) Cole of Niles, Melvin (Roberta) Cole, Jr. of Niles, Candida (Kevin) Shilling of Niles and Ralph Stites of Niles; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Nevada (Joyce) Stites of South Bend, Danny (Lois) Ohms of Waco, Texas and Marvin Born; and sister-in-law Martha Stites of South Bend.
In keeping with Mercedes' wishes she has been cremated and her family will be remembering her privately.
