Obituary of Frances Elizabeth Varga

Frances Elizabeth Varga, 92, of Niles, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 22, 2015 with her family by her side. Frances was born on June 5, 1923 to the late Fred and Hulda (Hoskins) Spain. After school Frances began her career at Simplicity. She worked there as a Press Operator and Union Representative until her retirement in the late 1980's. She was a faithful long-time parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Thomas Spain; mother, Hulda "Elaina" (Hoskins) Jarman; husband, Charles P. Dukes, husband, Donald R. Varga, Sr.; brothers, Franklin Spain and Jerry Spain; and sisters, Florence Schaeffer, Carrie Quick, Mary Graham and Hattie Quick. Frances is survived by her daughters, Libby Homan of Niles, Diane (Udell) Strack of Sidney, Illinois, Lola (George) Schrumpf of Columbia City, Indiana and Anne Varga of Niles; son, Donald Varga Jr. of Niles; grandchildren, Charles (Tammy) Bishop of Niles, Linda (Brett) Bennett of Sidney, Illinois and Larry (Tracy) Homan of Elkhart, Indiana; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brother, Ron (RoseMary) Spain of Niles; and sisters, Beverly Birczak of Niles, Julia Marrow of Niles, Marty Bryant of DeLand, Florida, and Laverne Wright of Niles; her friend, Cathy Bishop and her beloved dog, Sarah. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Brown Funeral Home in Niles with a time of visitation one hour prior with Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C. officiating and Brother Dennis Meyers, C.S.C. assisting. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Frances' name may do so to Southern Care Hospice at 1911 W.
