James E. Donaghe, 73, of Niles, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph. He was born on June 6, 1942 in Niles to the late Clyde E. and Alice (Johnson) Donaghe. Jim was a journeyman for many years with the Ironworkers Local 292. He was a Freemason and a member of the St. Joe Valley Lodge #4 F. & M. (Masonic Lodge). He also was a past member of the Niles Moose Lodge, the Niles Eagles Lodge and the Bend in the River Conservation Club. Jim was a passionate outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing with his companion Charlotte, especially at Donnell Lake in Vandalia. He enjoyed all aspects of big game hunting and loved to mushroom hunt. Jim had very fond memories of his hunting trips with his cousin Jack Schwartz in Montana and salmon fishing with his son Chuck on the St. Joe River. He was a gifted woodworker and an all-around "Mr. Fix-it". Jimmer really enjoyed breakfast with Charlotte at their favorite places to fuel up for high intensity garage sale bargain hunting. He loved being a part of Charlotte's extended family and will be sorely missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde E. Donaghe, Alice (Donaghe) Lovelady, stepfather Jake Lovelady and a sister, Gloria Marsh. Jim is survived by his companion, Charlotte Stephens of Niles, a daughter, Lisa Donaghe of New Mexico, two sons, Charles Donaghe of Florida and Donald Donaghe of Ohio, two grandchildren, Nicole and Charles Donaghe of Florida and a sister, Barbara (Dan) Weller of New York. In keeping with his wishes cremation will take place followed by a private ceremony. There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Eagles Lodge in Niles on Saturday, October 31st at 2pm.
