Obituary of Walter Moore

Walter King Moore Jr., 96, of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015, at West Woods of Niles. On October 20, 1919 Walter was born to the late Walter K. Sr. and Leta (Berry) Moore in Dover, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn, a son, Stephan "Steve" Moore and a grandson, Seth Stephan Moore. Many will remember Walt for his painting ability, operating his own contracting company for over 50 years. In 1954 Walt married the love of his life Marilyn Krieger, affectionately known to Walt as "J". Walt and Marilyn were inseparable until her passing in 2000. They owned and operated Moore's Department Store in downtown Buchanan for a number of years. He was an avid outdoorsman; loving to camp, fish and hunt. Walt mostly valued time spent with his grandchildren. Walt loved to "whistle while he worked" and will also be remembered for being a practical jokester, always enjoying to see others laugh and smile. He will be missed by his family and many lives he touched throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his son, Douglas (Kelly) Moore of Buchanan, his grandchildren; Zach Moore, Walt (Hannah) Moore, Clayton Moore, Lacy Moore, Jordan Kelley and Justin Kelley, and great-grandchildren; Kylie, Kennedy, Charlotte, and Boyd. A time of visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Walter's memory to the American Heart Association Team Papa Frost. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
