Melvin Carl Cole, Sr., 78, of Niles, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in Niles on Friday, November 20, 2015.
Melvin was born on July 12, 1937 to the late Carl and Mary Cole in Shelby County, Tennessee. He wed Mercedes Stites and together the two raised four children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mercedes Cole just six weeks prior, and siblings Dan Cole, Milton Cole, Johnnie Cole, Charlie Cole, William Cole and Ruth Cole.
Melvin is survived by his children, Allen (Michelle) Cole of Niles, Melvin (Roberta) Cole, Jr. of Niles, Candida (Kevin) Shilling of Niles and Ralph Stites of Niles; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Albert Cole, Billie (Barb) Cole, Harold (Vicky) Cole, Eva Hughes, Doris bounds and Sue (Junior)Hernandez and sister-in-law Joan Cole.
In keeping with Melvin's wishes he has been cremated and his family will be remembering him privately.
