Doris L. Leach, 86, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Westwoods of Niles, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Milford and Helen (Jones) Evans in Benton Harbor, Michigan on November 19, 1926. Doris and Frederick Leach married on December 14, 1946 at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan and began their family. She was a longtime resident of Niles and graduated from Niles High School Class of 1945. Doris worked most of her life at the Niles A & P Grocery Store as a cashier and bookkeeper. She was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Niles. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, especially to Florida; reading, gardening and mostly spending time with her grandchildren. Preceding Doris are her parents, her husband Frederick Leach, a granddaughter Amanda Spencer, a great-granddaughter Sandy Jones, three brothers Robert, James and Milford Evans, and a sister Kathryn Marcham . She is survived by her two daughters Sandra (Mike) White also of Niles and Sharon Leach of Niles, two sons David (Dotty) Leach of South Haven and Bruce Leach of Niles. She will also be missed by her brother Joseph Evans of Cassopolis, her two sisters Marian (Hutch) Hutchison of Carmichael, California and Anna (Mark) Carter of Niles, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.at the Niles Kingdom Hall. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Doris may do so to the Kingdom Hall at 603 N. 17th Street Niles, Michigan 49120.
