Obituary of Darrell W. Mackey

Darrell Wade Mackey, 80, of Dowagiac, passed away at his home peacefully on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
He was born in Concord, Kentucky on July 17, 1935 to the late John and Mildred (Craig) Mackey. Darrell graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1952 and went on to marry the love of his life, Trudy Gelnett at a ceremony at the Pokagon Methodist Church.
Darrell enjoyed time spent outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed traveling to various festivals and fairs where he participated in pony pulling competitions. Darrell enjoyed bowling and restored Wheel Horse tractors.
Darrell leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years; Trudy Mackey, sons; Darren (Lori) Mackey, of Niles, Michigan, Dr. Craig (Vanessa) Mackey, of Danville, Kentucky and five grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; John and Mildred Mackey, son Dale Mackey and sister Robin Kent.
Funeral services to honor Darrell's life will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 3 O'clock in the Afternoon with a time of visitation from 1-3 pm. A private family burial will take place on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
