Bob Fredrick Briggs, 79, of Niles, passed away at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Bob was born on January 15, 1937 in Phelps, Wisconsin. At a young age he was adopted by Terry and Ruth (Bennett) Briggs. While in high school Bob made the decision to join the United States Army. On May 23, 1958 Bob wed Rosa Mager in Germany. After his tour in the Army, Bob joined the National Guard where he faithfully served for 30+ years. Bob also loved to hunt and fish in his free time when he wasn't with his family. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Rosa Briggs; daughter, Linda Colcord; grandchildren, Melissa (Stan) Larrew, Tina (Dennis) Ralston, Michelle Colcord and Jennifer Colcord; great grandchildren, Summer, Amanda (Scott), Cody, Anthony, Nickoda, Daryl and Summer; great great grandchildren, Holly, Haden, Scott Jr., Wyatt, Savannah and Mason and many extended family and friends. A memorial service to honor Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior. In the spring the family will also be having a celebration of life service at their home
