Obituary of Larry Clymer

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry H. Clymer, 62, of Niles, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, February 24, 2016, following a brief illness. He was born on January 9, 1954 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Harold and Ruth (Cochran) Clymer. Larry received his degree in Respiratory Therapy and worked in that field for over 40 years, retiring a month ago. If Larry wasn't working he could be found playing his guitar. He was a gifted, left-handed musician. On June 6, 1992 Larry married Karen Ann Lear at a ceremony in Columbus, Ohio. Larry loved music. He played in bands in his younger days. He continued to enjoy playing his guitar and singing throughout his life and often did this with his son Jason. He wrote and played a song for his wife Karen on their wedding day. He played his guitar and sang for family around the campfire, sang and played his guitar at his stepdaughter's wedding, and he even brought in his guitar and played for his co-workers when he retired. Larry was an easy going man. He enjoyed sports, mostly Ohio State and The Cleveland Browns. He coached his son Shawn's basketball team in his younger years, and encouraged them to just have fun. One game, he gave them all Snickers bars because they were losing terribly. He said to them that "nobody can be unhappy eating a Snickers bar." This was Larry's character. Larry was always analyzing numbers. He could figure out travel times down to the minute, or how long it would take to do something. He enjoyed playing the lottery and even asked his wife Karen to play his numbers in his last days when he wasn't able to get out. Larry always had hope, a positive attitude, and believed in luck. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry is survived by his wife Karen A. Clymer of Niles, two sons, Jason Clymer of Columbus, Ohio and Shawn (Lauren) Clymer of Denver, Colorado, a step-daughter Stephanie (Scott) Cook of Sault Ste. Marie, five grandchildren, three brothers; Danny Clymer of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Randy Clymer of Columbus, Ohio and Tony (Ann) Clymer of Columbus, Ohio, four sisters; Judy Clymer of Zanesville, Ohio, Shirley Roberts of Zanesville, Ohio, Audrey (Ken) Rasmussen of Euclid Heights, Ohio, Nancy (Chris) Nash of Gainesville, Georgia as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held by his family. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the VFW National Home for Children, 3573 S. Waverly Road, Eaton Rapids, Michigan 48827.
